- [Narrator] Many large diaphragm condenser microphones provide a patterned selection switch so the engineer can choose between two or three or five or more polar patterns. Some condenser mics like this AKG Perception series provide an external power supply that the engineer can keep in the control room and select the pattern that sounds best for the source.
