- [Narrator] If you're new to the world of audio editing and sound design I want to quickly go over some basic concepts that are universal regardless of whatever digital audio workstation you're using. So here we have Ableton Live open and I've loaded a snare drum sound up. And I'll show you how to do that in the next movie but for now let's just play this snare drum and go over a few things. (snare drum) So I have it looping here. (snare drum) And you can see that we have a wave form which is a visual representation of our snare. And something to know about all digital audio in its recorded state is that it's essentially frequency and amplitude over time. So time is always going to be left to right and then our amplitude is vertical and the frequency is represented by the wave form here. So you can see that as the sound of our snare drum hits and then decays we see that decay over time where the amplitude is increasingly lowered and we have less frequency represented until it fades…
