Tutorial: Making a drum sound

[Instructor] Synth drums are awesome. Instead of relying on a sample, which is a fixed pre-recorded sound, having the flexibility to program your own drum sounds out of oscillators and filters, lets you start with a pristine sound and sculpt it to your liking. In this movie we'll employ some of the synth techniques we've learned to create a kick drum, a snare drum, and a hi-hat, all here in Ableton's analog synth. So I've got three tracks here in Ableton, a kick, a snare, and a hi-hat. And all of them have their own instance of the analog instrument attached to them. Right now I've got just the kick drum soloed, and I'm going to start by building a kick drum sound. So if I hit play, it sounds like nothing, this is just the default state, it sounds kind of funny (tuneless electronic blaring) It's just a MIDI pattern. We're going to use some of the controls of the analog synth to sculpt our own kick drum. So let's start…
