Welcome

- [Nate] One component of any product, whether physical or web-based, that is tremendously important but often overlooked is sound. Sounds can help us navigate a product's interface, feel a sense of reward for accomplishing a task, or even allow us to feel more immersed in certain technologies. Its importance can sometimes be overlooked, because in many cases, and especially in navigation or game rewards, sounds can often be less than half a second long. When it comes to creating sounds for physical or web-based products, there are several approaches you may want to take, usually based on intuition, visual feedback from a product's interface, motion design of the product, and feedback from the client. In this course, we'll explore audio tools like digital audio workstations for sequencing and mixing sounds, virtual instruments, effects, and synthesizers for creating sounds, (digital tones playing) audio recording from your environment to add something unique, (tone clicking) file management tools to help keep revisions organized, a sample product and creative brief, tools and techniques for presenting to a client, and more. My name is Nate Mars. I'm a producer and sound designer based in New York. Together we'll walk through this exciting process and create sounds for a product from scratch. If you're ready to get started, let's dive into Audio Design for Interactive.
