- [Instructor] The piano roll window is one of Logic Pro's best assets. It offers an easy and intuitive way to graphically view, create an edit midi note events and their velocities and a bunch of other information, all while viewing them in a standard timeline fashion. Let's explore this powerful tool, the piano roll window. Now to get the most out of a piano roll, you want to open it from an existing midi region. For example, if I opened the piano roll without any region selected, I get this. Nothing. So we want to make sure we have a region selected, in this case, the B section synth. Now remember, if I double click on this, I get the piano roll but I get it as a encapsulated window pane at the bottom of the main window. So, if we want to get the piano roll as its own standalone pop-up window, we can option double click on a region, or we can go ahead and just open it from the key command, command + four.
