- What do you think of when you see scribbling? For some it may recall a child with a crayon, trying to fill up a sheet of paper in an attempt to imitate their parents. Or, it may be emblematic of a person trying to vent their anger. Maybe it's an expression of freedom or no more than a hairball. I find tremendous meaning in the guttural scribblings of man. Which is why I'm left perplexed that my dictionary defines scribble as "To make marks or drawings with no meaning." All of these marks are connected to humanity at its very core. It's hard to mistake scribbles for anything but just that. It's challenging to picture one that doesn't conjure up the actual act of its creation. A hand, tightly gripping a pen and shaking out a chaotic burst of energy. The Scribble Factory could probably have done without the word mark here because I know darn well it's a scribble factory.
