Geography: Finding our way

- A relatively common objective in branding is to identify an initiative, or a business that's concerned with a very specific geography. Their physical sphere of influence. Maybe it's a city, region, state, or country. Maybe it's a continent. But the place itself is a critical part of the branding message. Obviously it's not imperative to visually represent the place with a map. Maybe the name of the place is in the name and it will be part of a word mark solution. But there are other times when a visual representation of landmass is completely acceptable as a solution. In these instances, to carve out a unique identity for your project, you may want to strive for an unexpected solution. Differentiation makes an impact. The African continent appears in all three of these logos. But look at how effectively the designers have used it.
