- You had to know, if we were discussing the handmade aesthetic, there were going to be a fingerprint or two in the mix. After all, one of the origins of the trademark dates back to Mesopotamian artisans like potters, brick-makers, and bakers, that pressed their thumb into their wares as a signature and assurance of authenticity. And although inking up the thumb print is the penultimate mark of human involvement, it must be used appropriately to pull that off. These two thumbs, making the combined heart, work beautifully as a handmade symbol if they are life-size. Run these scaled-down, or scaled-up, and they are obviously a reproduction. None of this is to say that these are bad logos. I like them all, but they're representative of the individual, and not a mark of the individual.
