Installing a LUT

- When you're shooting V-Log, one of the challenges that you face is that the image you see on screen, or through the viewfinder, is very, very flat-looking. In the previous video, we looked at what the V-Log actually looks like, and if you are looking at that all the time, it can be really hard to judge your exposure, your saturation, your colors, and everything else, just by looking at that flat image. Your shadows are really muddy, your whites really muddy, and just, the image isn't pleasant to look at. So generally, what people will do is install something called a LUT into the camera. A LUT stands for Look Up Table, and a Look Up Table is, quite literally, a huge database of numbers that map one number to another. It simply says, take this value and make it look like this, so your shadows look darker, your highlights look brighter, your greens look greener, or it could even be shifting colors, so maybe it takes your blues and shifts them towards green.
