- The last option on the drive mode dial on your GH5 is the combination time lapse and stop motion function. Now they're both actually controlled from the same menu as well, so we're going to wrap them up into one video as they are effectively very, very much the same thing in the end it just depends on how you get there that changes which mode you're going to choose. So time lapse, let's start with that. Pretty much everybody is familiar with the idea of a time lapse image. This is where you have a movie that compresses a large amount of time into a short movie. This could something like a sunrise or sunset, a flower opening or anything like that, anything that takes a longer time than you want to sit and watch it on camera so you shoot that whole thing and then compress it together. Now instead of just shooting a video for let's say a half hour or an hour or several days and then speeding that up you shoot individual frames at timed intervals so that you can capture, instead of way,…
