Blocking out the main shoe shape
- [Instructor] The technique that I'm going to use to create the initial shape for the shoe is called "box modeling," and box modeling is very straightforward. You start with a simple cube, or a box, and you then proceed to bevel and extrude polygons in order to refine the shape. Just before I start modeling, I'm just going to select my main backdrop item, and I'm going to increase its transparency. That's just going to make it a little bit easier to see what I'm doing. Once I've done that, I'm going to select this empty mesh item, which I've named "Shoe Template," and I'm going to switch into polygon mode. Then, I'm going to head over to the "Create" tab, and I'm going to activate the cube tool. I'm going to draw a rectangle around the rear section of the shoe. I'm going to line up the right-hand side with this part of the drawing. And I'm going to ensure that the bottom part goes well into the sole. Now here…
