- This video is going to be a short introduction to CG light items in MODO. Currently, the kettle is only being illuminated by global illumination which is being provided by the environment. It's just some very dark ambient lighting. However, I have created some lights in this scene which are currently disabled. So, I'm going to re-enable them one by one. Let's start with the spotlight which is shining on the rear of the sweep. Next, I'm going to enable the two area lights which are illuminating the kettle. And the first think you might notice is that results are extremely clean. And that's because it's much easier for the render engine to calculate the lighting from these direct lights than it is for global illumination. So, if I select the render item and go to the Global Illumination tab, we can see that all the settings are still at their defaults, which as I mentioned in a previous video, are all geared towards speed rather than quality.
