Cut Map
- In this video, we're going to be looking at the cut map tool. What this tool does is it allows you to predefine some UV seams prior to running the unwrap tool. So when you click on the cut map button, this opens a popover, which I'm going to drag and pin. And the first step will be to define a new UV seam. So where it says UV seam, I'm going to select new from the dropdown and I'm going to call it head seam and hit okay. In edges mode, I'm going to activate symmetry on the x-axis and I'm also going to ensure that shortest path selection is checked. So I'm now ready to start defining my seams. And the first seam I want to define is going to go around the characters face. So I'm going to begin by selecting this edge on the forehead. And you can see with symmetry active the equivalent edge on the other side is also selected. And then I'll just spin the model so I can have a clearer look at the side of the face and I'm going to extend this selection down to the side of the ear. So with…
