Deferred meshes

- [Instructor] This video is going to be an introduction to deferred meshes in MODO. Deferred meshes are a means of using a low resolution proxy of a high resolution mesh in your scene. So I have a version here of my palm tree mesh, which I've subdivided into, it hits almost two million polygons. And if I was to duplicate this around the scene, my viewport interactivity would soon slow down due the sheer number of polygons being displayed in open GL. And also my scene save and scene load times would increase. So when your scenes are getting bogged down by a lot of heavy geometry, the solution is to convert some of that geometry to deferred meshes. So I'll do this now. I'm going to select the palm tree in the Item list. I'll right click, and I'm going to go to Change Type, and that's going to change it from mesh to a different kind of object. Then I'm going to down to Procedure, and select Deferred Mesh. Which brings up a Save dialog, and I'm going to call my deferred mesh, palm, and…
