- [Instructor] I'm now ready to start modeling the laces so I've created a new empty mesh item which I've named lace topology and I've colored yellow. I'm just going to expand my item list so that I can reveal the shoe template mesh once again store the item list and I can start modeling. I'm going to switch to the topology tools tab I'm going to activate to the pencil, and I'm also going to switch into my ghosted retopology viewport preset and then I'll zoom in onto the top of the shoe so that I can start modeling and using the pencil, I'm going to draw out a strip of quad polygons. Then I hit q to drop the tool and I'm going to switch to the topology pencil. And I'll start tweaking the shape that I've drawn out. Let's straighten it out, to start with. And then I'm going to right click to just drag the entire row of edges on both sides to make the entire lace a little bit thicker. Then using the topology pencil, I'm just…
