- [Instructor] What I'm doing at this early stage of the process is to create a simple prototype mesh. And there's two reasons why you might want to do that. So, first of all, by using this approach you can quickly create a basic 3D mesh which is going to give you an idea of how your 2D design is going to translate into 3D. And secondly, by building a basic prototype mesh you can separate the two main problems that you're going to face when creating this asset and deal with them separately. The first problem you have to deal with when modeling this asset is simply creating the form itself. And then the second problem you have to deal with is creating the correct topology for your model. And so building this simple prototype mesh allows you to deal with the form first and once the form has been approved you can then retopologize it later. And so, in fact, the prototype mesh is going to turn out to be incredibly useful…
