Connect external drives
- [Instructor] In addition to any internal storage devices that are a permanent part of your computer, you can also use external storage drives like an external hard drive or USB memory stick. Just start by connecting your drive to your computer. This usually plugs into a USB, USBC, Thunderbolt or Firewire port. Just make sure your computer has the port that goes with the connector or cable on your drive. And if you have a USB drive and your computer only has USBC ports, then you will need an adapter. Memory sticks and hard drives work basically the same, so I'm going to plug a USB memory stick into the USB port on my computer. And after a moment, I will see it appears here on the desktop. And if I open up a Finder window, I can see it appears here on the sidebar on the left as well. Now, if you do not see one of those, of course it could be that your drive has not been connected properly or it could be a setting. So…
