Restore lost files from a Time Machine backup

- [Instructor] In another video we saw how to set up an automated backup using time machine. Now, I want to look at a few scenarios for how you can restore files from that backup, if you lose some files or if your computer is broken and needs to be completely replaced. My time machine backup is already set up and configured, and I have the hard drive that I use for time machine connected. I can see that here on the desktop. So one scenario is pretty easy. I'm going to go into finder and I'm going to navigate to a folder where I have a bunch of files. And let's say you delete a file that you should not have deleted. So let's do that. I'm going to delete this file and I'm going to empty the trash. So theoretically that file is completely gone. But because I have my backup set up, I can restore it from a copy on my backup.
