- [Instructor] Apple is constantly publishing updates to macOS. These updates add features and fix problems that may be discovered in the future. When we talk about updates, those are smaller and less intrusive than an upgrade, which is when you move from one major version of macOS, like when you upgrade from macOS Catalina to macOS Big Sur. Now, first, at some point, you may see a notification pop up on your screen letting you know that updates are available. You can dismiss that notification, or if you have time, you can follow the prompts and allow the computer to update. But you can also manually check for updates by going into System Preferences. So I'll open the System menu, go to System Preferences, and I'm looking for the Software Update category.
