We're going to create an email campaign now. To get started, you'll click the campaigns button and choose create campaign. There's a bunch of campaign types to choose from here but we're going to jump right into creating an email campaign. So we'll select that type. The most common type of email campaign you'll send is a regular one and we'll select that one now. Next you'll type the name of your campaign. This will help you recognize it in the dashboard when you want to see the results. We'll create a one-time campaign that lets Two Trees customers know there's a new product available. This is where you'll build out your campaign. Each of the components in a campaign is shown here, the to and from, the subject, the content, if you scroll down you can even see that you can add social posts associated with your campaign. As you enter each of the details into these sections, you'll get a complete picture of your campaign before you send it. This email is going to be sent to our customers in our list. So we'll select the edit recipients button and within the Two Trees audience list we're going to select the customer segment. You can see the power of tagging your audience in this dropdown, it's now quite easy to choose who you want to send your message to. If we want to include the customer's name anywhere in our message, we can select this personalized to field check box. I recommend that you click this now because the personalization will be there if you want to design it into your content. You'll notice that you can select the first name, last name or both if you like. Click save to save those settings. You want the from to be a personal and recognizable email address because this helps encourage readers to open it. Brett is the owner of Two Trees and he manages the tasting room. So he's someone that the recipients of this email would probably recognize. The topic of this email campaign is announcing new product sets. So let's fill in the subject and the preview text. This will appear in the inbox and it's useful to give your readers some information about what's in the email and even a little bit of enticement to open it. You can see that MailChimp provides some really good information about how to design good subject lines. Next, we're going to create the content for this email. To do that, we'll click the design email button and we're going to choose a basic campaign. It has all the things that we need for this initial type. So you can see that the basic structure of an email is here. The heading and body and the footer are all here. We can drag blocks from the right side into the email to add images and text and buttons. I'm going to browse for an image and choose this the olive oil sets. Insert it. To move things along I have finished the email and I'll explain everything now. At the top, we have an email header. Then we have some personalized text, a large image and we have some information and a link to a blog post. Each of these images is linked and I'll show you that here. You can click the link button. This is a great way to send your readers over to the website. For some additional interest to our readers, I've added a teaser to one of the blog posts and this block links to the Two Trees blog on the website. This is a great way to reuse your content and give your audience something special in the email that they're receiving. This email is essentially ready to send but before you click send, I recommend that you preview it and send a test email to yourself. It's good to also send it to someone else in your company because two sets of eyes are always better than one. You can preview how your email will look by entering the preview mode. You can see how it will look in mobile. You can even test the links in the preview if you like. Here's our blog post To get out of the preview mode, you can use this X in the top right. To send a test email to yourself, you'll use the preview drop down and select test email. I recommend clicking all the links in the test email when you receive it nothing ruins the effect of a well-designed email quicker than a broken link.
