Creating raster layers
- [Instructor] Raster layers such as air photographs, satellite imagery or scan drawings can be created to give your maps a lot of context. Using the GDAL provider which is the open source one that comes with map guide, we can add to all that data as a source and create a new raster layer. Now, earlier, we already created a data source called air photos. I'll just open that up now. This air photos data connection is GDAL feature source. So that means that's the type of technology used to connect to raster. And that's an open source technology GDAL. You can Google that if you want and see what other kind of data types it can connect to. We're pointing to a directory called air photos that we set up on our server. So it's actually a virtual alias that points to a particular directory and it's pointing to nine TIFs. So let's close that up.
