Creating thematic layers

- [Instructor] Thematic layers are layers that are color-coded based on some value in your layer. For example, if your shape file has a column called zoning you can color-code all the parcels in that layer, based on that zoning column. We will create a thematic layer using the road center lines and classify them based on the class type. So let's create brand new layer. So I'll pick on Layers and we'll hit New Resource and choose Vector Layer Definition. So we're making a new vector layer from the shape file. We're going to browse to where that is under 2-DATA. We'll use the road center lines. And the very first thing we'll do is hit upgrade. Perfect, and let's preview this data. It's just so we can see these roads center lines that we're looking at.
