- Nearly 2/3 of marketers will increase their influencer marketing budget this year. An influencer campaign is a great option to expand the impact of your content marketing. So to help you make the most of an influencer campaign, I'm sharing three tips. The first tip is to follow the rules. In the U.S., the Federal Trade Commission has clear guidelines for disclosing when an influencer's posts are sponsored. And cleverly enough, the FTC created an infographic summarizing the guidelines. For instance, on Instagram, the influencer has to use a hashtag like #ad or #sponsored. A great example is a post by Janise Burrafato about infertility, which was sponsored by a pharmaceutical company. She discloses the sponsorship up front, and the post still received more than 1800 likes within 24 hours. If you don't follow the rules, you could get in legal hot water.
