- There's no secret formula that'll guarantee that your content goes viral, but you can improve the odds. In this video, I'll tell you what you should think about when you develop content to maximize the probability that people will share it. Jonah Berger, a professor at Wharton, and his team of researchers analyzed thousands of pieces of content to better understand what makes content go viral. He wrote a book about his findings, "Contagious". And he concluded that there are six factors that improve the shareability of content. The first one is social currency. People like to share content that makes them look smart or makes them feel like an insider. Take this example from Starbucks, for instance. When they rolled out a Frappuccino happy hour in 2017, they announced the Unicorn Frappuccino which was only available for one week in April.
