- To succeed in social media you need to have a regular presence, and you should engage with your audience using content that feels current. The best way to do that is to plan and schedule your posts in advance. After this lesson you'll know how to develop and manage your social media calendar. Start by creating a high level plan for your entire year. List the internal events of important milestones you know your business has planned for the year with the right date. For instance, product launches, annual sales, events, opening of a new location, et cetera. Then list external events that matter to your business or industry, as well as holidays that are celebrated where you are. Examples are New Year's, Mother's Day, start of fall, et cetera.
