- [Narrator] There are plenty of insights, tips, and advice when it comes to compiling the four areas of information required for a SWOT analysis. However, one item that is sometimes overlooked is the actual facilitation of a SWOT process with a group of people. The most critical components of a standard SWOT analysis, the collected inputs that make up the four quadrants are subjectively captured and derived from the experience of key individuals and stakeholders. These inputs critical to the benefits of a SWOT analysis are often subject to significant bias. The introspective nature of exposing internal characteristics particularly weaknesses can often play SWOT participants in vulnerable, defensive postures if not handled with care and consideration. I'd like to share some suggestions for how to facilitate aspects of a SWOT analysis that minimize subjective bias, particularly in the early stages of a SWOT process where questions are drawn up and inputs are collected.
