- Your lifelong commitment to making change happen is wonderful. We just want to make sure that you're not trying to change too many things at the same time. Occasionally I run into people who are almost addicted to the process of self improvement. They jump from course to course and book to book and seminar to seminar, continually drinking from an educational fire hose. It's as if they hope that something eventually is going to sink in and change their life. But knowledge alone doesn't make change last. As we've discussed in this course, you also need to take action, and in my experience, at most, you're going to be able to tackle three changes at a time with one being your primary focus. I know that may sound contradictory, so I'll explain. Consider this analogy of an airplane. There are three stages, loading, taking off, and flying.
