- [Narrator] Whenever you or a search engine request a website from a web server, an HTTP response status code will be returned. And we touched on these briefly a little earlier when we looked at the use of a 301 and a 200 status code. But let's take a closer look at what these codes mean, how we can review them, and how they impact your SEO. HTTP status codes are three digits and the first digit begins with one of five numbers, one through five. And all of these status codes fall into the following categories. The hundreds are informational so this is a request has been received and the process is continuing. 200s are success codes so the request was received and processed successfully. The 300s are redirection codes. This means the request has been received, but more steps are needed to complete that request. 400s are the client errors. This means a request was made, but that page is not valid. And 500s are server errors. This means a valid request was made, but the server failed to…
