- The way we've been told to define our ideal customer is backwards. If you pick an audience that you decide is your ideal customer, maybe based on demographics or the market you'd like to reach, they will feel targeted. If it's not the market you are meant to serve your intended customers will feel that and stay away. Never has authenticity and transparency than more important in marketing than it is today. Therefore, the best way to define your ideal customers is to begin with you. Not the customer, you. I'm going to give you several exercises to understand yourself and your business better.
