- [Instructor] The best place to start your technical SEO audit of your website is a crawl. Just by running that crawl you might find fundamental issues. For example, one time I could not get the crawler to run it all on one client website, and it turned out their secure certificate wasn't installed properly which was causing DeepCrawl to air out instead of crawling. Easy fix, you won't always get that lucky when finding issues, but starting with the crawl and gives you the best overview of what's happening on your website. If you're just getting started the free version of Screaming Frog will work just fine. Earlier in the course I detailed several leading web crawler tools. Remember though, no matter which web crawler you end up using, they all have one thing in common. They are robots and they can't understand your specific situation.
