- Here's a typical conversation that I often hear. Carmen says, "Jim, I really don't like your open door policy because you're not really that available." Jim says, "Okay, Carmen, I'll just be more available." This might sound like a resolution, but really, it's a flawed solution. I want to help you from making the same mistake and jumping to solutions to resolve conflicts too quickly. So, you might be thinking, "But Lynne, I came up with a solution. The conflict is over." Well (chuckling) it's not really over because, number one, how do you really know what this conflict is about? You don't have enough information.
