Measure your growth
- Measuring your progress will help you maintain both your growth and motivation. For a simple example, let's imagine you have a loan on a car. If you make early payments on the principle, you can measure that the overall debt goes down faster. You become more excited about the idea of making more payments. Seeing this progress will make it easier to continue making early payments. This example illustrates three keys to making change last. One, we make it measurable. Two, we make small progress continually. And three, that progress is visually reported back to us in some way. With changes that are numerically based like a loan, establishing these three keys is easy. We do our work, we input the numbers, and then we check those numbers on a weekly or monthly basis.
