Skill Level Beginner
- I'm sure you've faced conflict in your life. Maybe you didn't get along with your siblings when you were younger or you had a notoriously difficult friend. You might have that one coworker who you struggle to get along with, or maybe your colleagues are great but you just can't see eye to eye with your boss. And like anything, you've developed your own trademark way of responding to conflict. Maybe you clam up, just hoping to ride the conflict out until it's over. Or maybe you are more brash and feel confident you alone know the right way to solve the problem. Whatever your strategy, it's gotten you this far, hasn't it? How bad can it be? I'm Lynne Maureen Hurdle. And I can tell you that as someone who's been helping people resolve conflicts for decades, your strategy could probably use some improvement, and you're probably making a few common mistakes. Lucky for you, my personal mission is to help as many people as possible change their relationship with conflict so they can face it confidently, productively, and successfully. In this course, I'll walk you through strategies for overcoming the most common mistakes people make in their approach to conflict. I'll teach you strategies for better listening, like how to quit interrupting or tone policing. I'll teach you ways to respond to challenging situations by reaching viable solutions, not rushed or in imperfect solutions. And I'll give you my tips for working with people in ways that get you closer to actually solving the conflict instead of stoking the flames. I understand conflict can be uncomfortable, but it is possible to get better at handling conflict. And I can tell you're ready to start, so let's go.
