- [Instructor] Congratulations, you've secured an interview with a media outlet who wants to interview you. You only get one chance to make a first impression. And aside from any press materials you share with them, this is your only opportunity to talk to them directly about your story, and get what you want included in that piece of coverage. There are a few critical things that must be done prior to a briefing to ensure that things go smoothly. After you've secured the briefing but before the actual interview, it's important to prepare. But in order to prepare properly, it's important to have a clear understanding of how the reporter operates. After you confirm your meeting time and logistics, here are a few questions to ask. How long would you like to talk? Usually, this is no more than 30 minutes. Can you clarify the angle of your potential story, so I can properly prepare?
