- [Instructor] By all means, plan your podcast, because you want to make it the best you can. But don't be a perfectionist. Get out there and record a demo or a pilot, or two or three. Having a couple of test episodes under your belt will make you that much better when you're ready for your first show. Even before your demo, test your equipment to be sure you know how to use it and that it's working properly, then create a three to five minute track with just you talking. Play it back, listen to your voice. Do you say um and ah a lot? Try it again. When you're ready to go, make your first recording as simple as possible. Invite someone you know and trust as your guest so if something goes wrong, or you take longer than anticipated, there's a good chance your guest will be flexible.
