Research the market

- [Instructor] It is very crucial not to get lost when creating content for social media and forget what your end goal is. So whether your goal is to increase sales, drive new leads, boost website traffic, it should be at the forefront of your mind when creating your social media marketing strategy. So your content needs to appeal to your target customer. And in order to do this effectively, you first need to understand who that target customer actually is. So what are the demographics? This includes details such as the age range, the race, gender, yearly income, the education level of the people you are trying to reach on social media. You also have customer psychographics, which speaks to your customer's personality traits such as attitudes, interests, values, and other lifestyle factors. And lastly, you have behavioral marketing, as well, which aims to analyze your customer's behavior online which includes purchase history, keyword research data, which is important for SEO, as well. So your job as a content creator on social media for your business is to learn as much as possible about your target customer. So what interests them? What is important to them? What are their pain points? You want to use this information to your advantage and create content that you know will bring them value and attract your target customer to your social media pages. And you also need to know what platforms they are using. So when doing research about your target customer, it is important to know what social media platforms the majority of your target audience are spending their time on. So for example, are they on TikTok? Are they on Instagram? Are they on Facebook? Are they on LinkedIn? Where do your target customers spend their time online? That is where you need to be spending your time creating your content. So who has the attention of your target customers? What platforms are they already on, as we just discussed, but who has their attention on those platforms? Maybe there are creators on those platforms that speak to your target customer and they have already built up an audience. You want to analyze those creators and see what type of content they are putting out. See if you can gain any ideas from those creators. What keywords, what hashtags are they using to attract those target customers? And what type of content are they consuming? So what type of content are your target customers consuming when they are on the social media platforms that you've decided to spend your time creating content for?
