- Have you heard the recent saying that the average human has a shorter attention span than a goldfish? Whether or not this is true, when designing a virtual event, it's important to realize just how difficult it is to overcome the online attention span and distraction level of remote attendees. You can have the best intentions and a well thought out strategy, but that doesn't automatically mean remote attendees are going to pay any attention. There have been several recent studies that all attempt to measure the average attention span of people online. The actual time differs from study to study, but the conclusion remains consistent. Our attention spans have been steadily dropping ever since the mobile revolution began in the early 2000s.
