Time needed for community building

- How much time is needed for building a community from scratch or maintaining an existing community? If you're on the path to creating a brand new community from zero, you'll need to invest significant time to build a basic community and nurture it to grow. For one of the tech companies that I built a community for, we were working solid 10-hour days for six months prior to even launching the product to ensure that we were talking to the right potential community members, while encouraging them to join in on the private beta. 50 plus hours a week isn't necessarily a reasonable ask if you don't have a dedicated employee or team. A more reasonable suggestion is 20 to 30 hours a week for three months before launching a public community. This is also a great time to confirm that the demographic that you've chosen is a strong fit for your product and brand.
