- It's incredibly common these days to have free trials and these free trials often don't require a credit card when you sign up, but I recently saw a great hack. When I was signing up for a free trial, right at the point where I could enter into the product, they had an optional ask for my credit card number. They had a sale. If I gave them the credit card number, they would give me 50% off for the first three months, but it was still a free seven day trial. I simply had to input my credit card number. Now, why would they do that? Well we know that once payment information is provided, the likelihood of a conversion event goes up. We also know that a conversion from no credit card needed free trials to having that payment information added is low.
