- Have you ever really related to a TV or movie character on a personal level? Well product marketers hope that you will because the way TV characters are written is similar to creating a marketing persona. Personas are fictional representations of your target users and customers. These should provide a comprehensive understanding of a variety of user types by providing information like pain points, desires, needs, and characteristics, both related and unrelated to your product, service, and business. A business typically has four to six master personas that represent the main parts of the business. However, this number depends on the size of your business and product offerings. You need to have personas that are broad enough to include a range of people. For example, the food delivery company Seamless might use a persona to determine business direction, product development, and the go to market strategy.
