- Some of the best growth techniques take advantage of human behaviors. Truthfully, the job of a marketer is really just to change someone's behavior. They were intending to go one direction, we interrupt it, and we get them to go a different direction, essentially buying our product or service. And one thing that rings true for humans is we like and trust people who we perceive as being similar to us. We seek out like minded individuals and we trust them more. We often doubt people that are less similar to us. Think about the last time you talked to a stranger only to learn that maybe you went to the same college, but perhaps at different times. Well, even though you weren't there at the same time, you automatically feel an affinity towards that person.
