Shutter speed
- What I want to spend a little more time on now, is your choice of shutter speed when shooting video. Now don't confuse shutter speed with frame rate. Frame rate is how many pictures the drone's camera takes every second. Shutter speed is how long the shutter is open for each of those pictures. And the shutter speed can have a big impact on how your video looks; especially for scenes that have a lot of motion in them. If you're shooting on a bright day, chances are the drone will use a fairly fast shutter speed; a 1/1000 of a second or faster. And that can be a problem in scenes that contain a lot of motion. You might find fast moving areas have a kind of strobing look to them. Here's an example: in this shot of a communications tower, the shutter speed was at 1/1250 of a second. Look at the rotating blades of the windmill, they have kind of a choppy, stroby quality to them.
