Welcome

(upbeat guitar music) - [Jim] Since the earliest days of photography, photographers have been getting cameras into the air. The new generation of compact drones, or flying cameras, as I like to call them, brings aerial photography and video to everyone. They give all of us the chance to capture and share views of the world that we wouldn't otherwise see. The Mavic Pro from DJI makes high-quality aerial imaging more accessible than ever. With a tiny but sophisticated camera, a gimbal that smooths out vibration, and some pretty incredible intelligence, all in a package that folds up and fits in a small bag. Hi, I'm Jim Heid. I've been flying DJI drones as a passionate enthusiast ever since the original Phantom 1 came out in 2013. And I often write about drones on LinkedIn. And I've been amazed to see how quickly this technology has evolved. In this course, I'm going to share some of what I've learned in the course of flying a Mavic Pro. We'll explore some basic safety tips, the kinds of things that can keep your Mavic from getting stuck in a tree. We'll spend a lot of time with DJI GO, the app you use when flying the Mavic. We'll explore the Mavic's intelligent flight modes. And we'll look at different settings for still photography and videos, and how to stream live to Facebook, and a lot more. And by the way, although this course has Mavic Pro in its name, a lot of what we cover applies to other DJI drones, too, including the latest Phantom and Inspire models. Now, the Mavic has a lot of features, and we can't hit them all in a single course. Ultimately, my goals are to share some best practices for flying safely, to help give you a better understanding of how this flying camera works, and to help you get better-quality videos and photos out of it. If all that sounds good to you, then let's get ready to fly.
