- [Instructor] Sampler Info is a Maya utility node that grabs information from the scene and allows us to use it in a shading network. A classic application of Sampler Info is to find the facing ratio of a surface. Facing ratio refers to whether a particular polygon or point on a surface is facing towards the camera or away from the camera. We can shade the edges of a surface differently than the areas that are pointed towards the camera. The effect will be most dramatic if we use the emission property of the standard surface. So in the hyper shade I'll select my material dancer facing ratio and the attribute editor bring the base weight down to zero and the specular weight down to zero. And we'll map the emission weight here. Let's create the Sampler Info node. In the hyper shade create menu, we can go to general utilities, and choose Sampler Info and we want to expose the outputs here, if you don't see output ports then…
