- [Instructor] The Bifrost extension is a plugin for Maya, and soon other applications such as 3ds Max. As we've discussed, Bifrost is a node-based framework or visual programming environment for building and using new and more efficient tools. I'd like to go a bit deeper, and talk about how the Bifrost extension interfaces with Maya. To understand that we also need to understand a little about the node-based architecture of Maya. It's been decades since the first time I heard the saying known as the "Maya Mantra": Maya is a network of nodes that are interconnected. That's generally true, but it's a little bit more complicated than that. Maya actually has two separate node graphs, one for transforms, and one for everything else. Transforms are the position, rotation and scale attributes of objects. Any renderable object and almost any non-rendering object has a transform node to place, orient and size it in the scene.…
