Connect objects through hierarchies

- [Instructor] When you manipulate objects in 3D, there are many times when you'll want objects to be connected together. Take, for example, this car. I have three separate objects in this scene. I have the car, I have a luggage rack on top, and then on top of that I have a suitcase. Now if I select the car and move it, the luggage rack and the suitcase don't follow along. Now if we want to connect them together, we can create what's called a hierarchy. Now hierarchy is very similar to the folders on your computer's hard drive. You can take a folder and place it inside another folder, and when you move that main folder, the subfolders go with it. Well, we can do the same with 3D objects. So for example, if we want, we can make the rack a child of the car, and we have what's called a parent-child relationship, the car is the parent of the luggage rack. And this is called a hierarchy.
