- [Instructor] So now I have my head control in the scene and it is perfectly aligned with the joint I want to control. So now we can connect our skeleton to our control. Now we're going to use a feature called offset parent matrix. If you're not familiar with this, it's a new feature in Maya, 2020. So you'll need to be using that version or above, and it allows you to do rigging without additional nodes. So let me show you what offset parent matrix is. Now when we set up a control like this, we want all of these values to be zero, and because this particular control needs to be aligned with the joint, we can't do something like, modify freeze transformation, because watch what happens to the alignment of this. The joints get all flipped around. Now I have my XY pointing to the right. I want it to be pointed along the joint. So I'm going to undo this, and this is what we want.
