Creating textures in Photoshop

- Maya's 3D paint is a really nice feature, but many times it's not enough. You might need to have advanced photo editing tools to paint your textures, and many times you'll need to bring it into something like Photoshop or another image editing package to do that. So let me show you how to get the mapping out of Maya and into something like Photoshop. So we're gonna go ahead and select our character and we're gonna do this in the UV texture editor. So I'm gonna go into UV texture and you'll see that this is my mapping for my character. Now, I can export this as an image by going into Polygons, UV Snapshot. And then all I have to do is just fill out the form. Give me a file name. Well, I'm gonna go ahead and browse over to my source images folder and let's just call this mapping. Okay, just give it a nice, generic name. The size, well, I want a 1K image so I'm gonna keep this at 1024 by 1024 and I'm gonna keep my aspect ratio.
