Cutout mapping with opacity

- [Instructor] A Cutout Map, or a Geometry Mask, will prevent any component of the standard surface material from rendering at a certain location on an object. We'll use it in this case to mask off the black parts of this leaf texture. I've got the Hypershade open, displaying the material shading network for house_plant_05_leaf standard surface, and I've got the Arnold RenderView running with interactive production rendering enabled. As we saw in the previous movie, we can optimize rate tracing by enabling Thin-Walled Geometry because these leaves are single sided surfaces. Select the standard surface material in the Hypershade and open up the Attribute Editor with Control + A. Scroll down and open up the Geometry section and enable Thin-Walled Geometry. We can close the Attribute Editor. And now let's map something to this Opacity channel of the standard surface. I've already got a Base Color and a Bump Map. I'll make…
