Finalizing mapping - Maya Tutorial
From the course: Modeling a Cartoon Character in Maya
Finalizing mapping
- Now I've gone ahead and finished off the mapping, and let's take a look at it in the UV Texture Editor. So I'm going to select my character, go into the Editor, and you can see that, okay, that's what my mapping looks like. Show it against the image, you can see how it maps. So now that we have coherent mapping, we can take this checkerboard image and replace it with the actual texture we want it to use. Now, this will probably have to be painted, but we'll do that in just a little bit. Now, as you texture your character, notice how you're also adding a lot of history to your character. So once you get done with the mapping process, it's always a good idea to delete history and just bake in that mapping. So if you need to do additional mapping to your character, go ahead and do that, and then we'll come back and do textures and materials next.
